If Tennessee's Republican lawmakers shrink the size of the Nashville's Metro Council to 20 members, the state's largest city would have a smaller county governing body than 25 Tennessee counties. At 40 members, Nashville has the largest governing body in the state, and the third-largest council in the county, trailing New York and Chicago. But, when factoring in how many residents each representative serves, Nashville has the fourth highest member-to-constituent ratio for a Tennessee county governing body.
